Tim and Aubrey Dorsch - Reaching St. Louis for Christ
Aubrey graduated from Webster University, and I (Tim) graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2001. God transformed our lives while we were college students, and we became full-time campus ministers with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) after graduating. From 2011 to 2018, we gave leadership to the Cru campus ministry team and the twenty-five campuses where we launched ministries. During that time, in order to become a more effective minister of the Gospel, I also completed a Masters of Divinity at Covenant Seminary. Although we are still partnering with the campus ministry, in the summer of 2018, we began serving with Cru City, which takes Cru distinctives and expands the vision to reaching the whole city. Cru City is thriving in many major U.S. cities, and Aubrey and I are pioneering it here in St. Louis.
Cities have always been the center of civilization and life—the building blocks of humanity’s knowledge, business, innovation, politics, and culture. 2,600 years ago, God called his people to “seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Similarly, the Apostle Paul made reaching cities a central part of his missionary strategy. And, now, we are in a critical time in the history of the U.S. and the world; as of a few years ago, more than half of the world resides in cities and that trend is growing quickly. Therefore, to reach the world for Christ, God’s people must reach its cities. Broadly speaking, this will involve dependent prayer, the faithful ministry of churches, and the devoted witness of believers. In light of the pervasive brokenness and significant complexities of cities, how, specifically, will God’s people grow in faithfully reaching our cities? Answering that question is central to my and Aubrey's calling.
Our points of emphasis are witnessing to the lost, multiplying disciple makers, reaching the many different cultures of the city, and equipping local churches and the universal church to grow in these crucial endeavors. The highest motivation for these efforts is seen in the life of Jesus for “when he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” The crowds desperately need Jesus, the Good Shepherd!
Of course, we can’t do this ministry alone! We also need people like you to pray, volunteer, and/or give financially to this vital work. As a team, we can reach the harassed and helpless by connecting them to Jesus!
We have five wonderful sons! Caleb Joshua was born in July 2005, Charles (Charlie) Nehemiah was born in February 2007, Eli Nazareth was born in December 2008, Ezra Matthias was born in May 2011, and Ezekiel (Zeke) Atticus was born in October 2012.
When Dr. Bill and Vonette Bright began Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951, it was on a college campus...UCLA. Because of the energy and commitment of college students to make a difference in their world, Dr. Bright would say, "Reach the campus today and you reach the world tomorrow."
Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) is now the largest evangelical organization in the United States (according to a USA Today report). Campus Crusade for Christ is active in 190 countries and employs over 27,000 full-time staff.
There's nothing like Campus Crusade for Christ in the history of the Christian world." - Dr. Billy Graham
Partnering With Us
Since joining Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ), Aubrey and I have seen God provide for all of our needs through the consistent financial support of a team of ministry partners. Because there are no central funds for paying salaries, this team has provided the only income for our family and ministry.
Due to the expanding needs of our growing family we are looking for additional partners to join with us in reaching students with the gospel. Because we believe that God has called us to this we are confident that He will continue to provide for us. We are praying that God would raise up a number of families and individuals to support our ministry. We are dependent on these new partners in order to continue to serve effectively. One-time or special gifts are also very helpful and are appreciated.
Perhaps God is moving in your heart to invest in our work with college students. If so, we would be grateful! If you have any questions, please call or email us.
